International Shipping, Taxes, Duties, VAT, etc…

I want to start by saying thank you to my international customers, you guys have been there from the start and I’m so grateful for you! 

Unfortunately, migrating from Etsy to Shopify has made some things a tad murky, like taxes, duties, and fees. This platform does not offer me the ability to collect VAT, any taxes, fees, or duties at point of sale in any sort of useful way without paying (ALOT) for a third party service to add an app to my page. As my shop grows I should be able to add this service, but for now, it’s super cost-prohibitive. 

What this means is for some of you, you may have a package arrive that has a tax or duty to be collected on in order to be picked up. Frankly, I’m not even really sure which countries or localities this may effect. The changes in recent tax laws are quite convoluted… at any rate, obviously this is out of my control for the time being. 

It gives without saying, but imma say it again, because I have had one issue with things of this nature in the past… I will not commit tax fraud by altering the value of items to make import or duty fees cheaper. Not worth it. Just please be prepared that you may owe taxes or fees on your package. As stated before, this won’t apply to all locations, I simply value transparency and want ya’ll to be informed.
